Welcome to Smith Land & Cattle Company, LLC. We have been raising Red Angus cattle since 1995. Our goal is to produce quality and performance driven red angus cattle that will excel at high altitude. We focus on low birth weight with high carcass data.

Frosty Smith has been raising cattle in the San Luis Valley in southern Colorado since 1965. A family operation specialized in yearling commercial beef cattle. The family business progressed into a commercial cow/calf operation that raised black baldy cattle.

After TJ Smith received his degree in Animal Science from Colorado State University he returned to the San Luis Valley and he and Frosty decided to form Smith Land and Cattle Company.

In the fall of 1995 we purchased our first Red Angus bull from Meyer Company Ranch in Helmville, Montana. In January 1996 we purchased the foundation of our cow herd from Double Fork Red Angus in Dillon, Montana and Redland Red Angus in Hysham, Montana. Most of the bloodlines we have been using are producing a mature cow size of 1100 pounds. We feel that this is optimum for cattle in our region of the country.
